Democrats Sink to New Low, Tell Americans to Spends Tens of Thousands for an Electric Car to Avoid High Gas Prices

While many Americans are struggling to afford basic needs as inflation skyrockets under Joe Biden, Democrat Pete Buttigieg showed everyone how out of touch he is with Americans.

Buttigieg, who serves as Biden’s Secretary of Transportation, suggested that Americans should pay tens of thousands of dollars for a new electric car in order to avoid concerns about gas prices.

“Clean transportation can bring significant cost savings for the American people, as well,” Buttigieg said.

“Last month, we announced a $5 billion investment to build out a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, so that people from rural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.” Watch the clip:

The average price of an electric car was $56,437 in December 2021, according to CNBC.

The price for a gallon of regular gas now stands at $4.17, according to AAA. This breaks a previous record of $4.11 a gallon in July 2008.

“US drivers have never paid this much for gasoline,” CNN reported on the record-high prices.

The Democrats’ plan to rely on Russian oil was a very, very bad idea. Gas prices hit a 31-year high under Joe Biden, according to USA Today.

A fired Keystone XL pipeline contractor told Fox News, “I’m not surprised at all. Because everything that Biden’s touched or done — it’s a failure.”

As Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, America quickly learned how dependent the U.S. is on Russian oil. Imports from Russia reached record levels in U.S. under Joe Biden. The U.S. imports as much as 600,000 barrels per day.

Biden still refuses to accept responsibility for this crisis despite making the disastrous decision to stop the XL Keystone pipeline, stop the flow of existing pipelines, and prevent drilling on federal lands.

As gas prices soared, he desperately blamed gas and oil companies of engaging in “illegal conduct” that is responsible for “costing families at the pump.” This allegation was also false as an investigation turned up no evidence of illegal conduct.

More on this story via Western Journal:

Former President Donald Trump had the country on the way to energy independence, but as soon as Biden assumed office, he took detrimental action and canceled the Keystone XL pipeline.

Biden is responsible for both inflation and America’s foreign oil dependence, and those are the two factors contributing most to rising gas prices. Any attempt from his administration to use this crisis as a means to push woke agenda items is grossly inappropriate.

Nonetheless, Buttigieg decided now would be the perfect time to pitch electric cars to Americans — and he wasn’t the only one. Vice President Kamala Harris made a similar pitch on Monday.

“Our transportation sector has reached a turning point,” Harris said. “We are all in the midst of a turning point. We have the technology to transition to a zero-emission fleet. Our administration together, all of us, is working to make that possibility a reality.”

This strategy is obviously dishonest, but it could also be political detrimental for Democrats.
